Vision 2010 Leaps Forward!!
In June of 2007, our church family voted to pursue two ambitious goals that we called “Vision 2010.” Those two goals were to grow to 210 members by the end of 2010, and to pursue “The Granville Davis Handicap Access Project”. Let me update you on the progress towards both of these goals.
Phase one of “The Granville Davis Handicap Access Project” was completed in 2008 and involved moving the church office to the old choir room and Pastor Eric’s office to the adjoining room. This move put our offices on ground level and removed the step barriers that prevented access.
On January 11, 2009 the church voted to move ahead with phase two of the project to build a new entryway to the sanctuary and social hall on the northwest corner of the facility. This addition will include stairs to both levels, a three stop elevator and a handicap accessible bathroom on the sanctuary level. We are also building a ramp to provide access to our historic Sunday school building. Additional improvements to our bathrooms and social hall will round out the project. We expect to break ground in June of 2009!
We also continue to reach toward our goal of 210 members by the end of 2010; and it all begins with prayer. It continues when each of us personally prays and reaches out in love to those who do not yet know the love of Christ. All of us must do our part. After all, if each one of us reaches just one person with the good news, we will reach our goal… God’s goal! As 2 Corinthians 5:14 says, we do this because “Christ’s love compels us.”
Thank you all for your commitment to making these dreams a reality. Let us move forward with our 2009 theme verse ever before us: “Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.” (Ish. 57:14)
