Church Covenant
As a summary of principles for Christian conduct among its members, we adopt the following church covenant:
Having received Jesus as my Lord & Savior…being Baptized…and being in agreement with the Purpose Statement of this church, and the Expression of Christian Faith…I now commit myself to God and the members of the Oaklyn Baptist Church, and pledge to do the following:
- I will protect the unity of this church
…by acting in love toward other members
…by refusing to gossip
…by following our elected leaders
(Rom. 14:19; I Peter 1:22; Eph. 4:29; Heb. 13:17)
- I will share the responsibility of this church
…by praying for its growth
…by inviting the unchurched to attend
…by warmly welcoming those who visit
(I Thess. 1:1-2; Luke 14:23; Rom. 15:7)
- I will serve the ministry of this church
…by discovering my gifts and talents
…by being equipped to serve with our leaders
…by developing a servant heart
(I Peter 4:10; Eph. 4:11-12; Phil. 2:2-4 & 7)
- I will support the testimony of this church
...by attending faithfully
…by living a Godly life
…by giving regularly
(Heb. 10:25; Phil. 1:27; I Cor. 16:2; Lev. 27:30)
Finally, I promise to nurture a growing intimacy with our Lord Jesus Christ because I know that I can do none of these things without Him (John 15:4).
