VISION 2010 MOVES FORWARD!
Last June, on our 103rd anniversary, our church family voted to pursue two ambitious goals that we called Vision 2010. Those two goals were to grow to 210 members by the end of 2010 and to pursue “The Granville Davis Access Project”. Let me update you on progress toward both of these goals.
In the area of Outreach we have chosen, over the last 9 months, to focus on more consistent visitor follow-up and on the completion of our website. The website is complete and already we have had visitors come who found us through the website! Also, if you are not aware, you can listen to sermons right from your computer! Just go to www.oaklynbaptist.org and click on “Pictures and Sound” in the upper left corner of the home page. (Special thanks to Dave Webb and Karen Warner)
With regard to “The Granville Davis Access Project” phase one is underway. This Spring we will be moving the church office to the current choir room and Pastor Eric’s office to the adjoining room. Currently, the existing offices are not handicap accessible – this move will put them on ground level and remove the barriers.
While the overall Vision 2010 Goals remain the same, our action steps are still evolving. A “Mark 2 Team” (named after Jesus teachings in Mark’s Gospel Chapter 2) is currently at work mapping out a pathway that can help us truly reach new people for Jesus. As always, prayer is vital, so as the Mark 2 team presses forward, it is imperative that the whole church join us in fasting and prayer – yes fasting and prayer; for if we are truly to discern God’s calling and vision for us as a disciple – making church, we must be on our knees.
God is giving birth to something new among us! Let us pray the Vision 2010 “baby” to safe delivery – a delivery that will yield a harvest of souls.
